New Year’s Eve by the Beach

Australia Perth
Posted: December 31, 2011

This New Year’s Eve day and night we spent at Cottesloe Beach which was a very different to last year which was in the cold winter in England.

My sister and her fiance were on patrol for the Cottesloe Surf Life Saving Club (CSLSC) from 8am until 1pm.  It was their first patrol since they passed their bronze medallion so we wanted to go and see them on the beach. They looked very smart in their uniforms and it reminded me of baywatch – although they had more clothing on than Pamela Anderson and David Hasselhof.

Here are just two recommendations of how I suggest you spend NYE in Australia.

1) Go to the beach

No surprise there.  NYE was more busy than Christmas Day.

We brought our own picnic and ate under the shade part of Cottesloe beach. We then went to Red Spoon for ice cream. Cottesloe is a beautiful beach,  there are just two buildings on the beach – the CSLSC and Indiana’s restaurant which also has a kiosk on the ground floor.

2) Go to the Surf Life Saving Club

We went to CSLSC in the evening and it was BYO – bring your own food and alcohol. We had use of the bbq and a perfect view of the beach.  We watched the sun set on 2011 and then welcomed the New Year with a early morning dip in the ocean. The CSLSC is a very sociable place.  A lot of the members came down to the beach and it was great to be able to have another BBQ and have as much as you wanted to drink without

NYE doesn’t have to be about spending lots of money in a crowded club.  Yes I have done that before but this year I wanted to do something different.

Let me know what you did this NYE to welcome in 2012.
