Cottesloe Surf Life Saving Club

Since arriving 19th of December, I have been an honorary member of this club.  I attend training sessions in the morning three times a week and the social events.  Last Friday was one of them, a wine tasting and pizza evening. A relaxing way to start the weekend.   I tried some of the wine, but as I am not much of a wine drinker, switched to the beers early on.  Drinks at CSLSC are subsidised so instead of $10 a drink, a corona was $5, much lighter on the pockets.  A lot of the members were at the winetasting event and it was great to see so many people at the club. Some of the club members were making and baking the pizzas at just $10 each.

Ocean Beah Hotel (OBH)

The OBH as it is commonly known is right on the ocean, about 1km south of CSLSC.  It is a large drinking venue, lots of rooms with different ambiance in each. The last time I came, it was jammed pack full of people drinking and dancing and having a good time.  We left the CSLSC at 11:00 as things were winding down there, thinking the OBH would have more going on.  We could not have been more wrong.  I was so disappointed by the lack of people, there were only about 30 people in the whole place.  It was supposed to be a big night as a friend was leaving but it looked like it was all going to end there until I asked the bartender where else we could go which turned out to be The Avenue.

The Avenue, Claremont

We hopped into a cab to The Avenue and arrived just before midnight.  There was no entry fee which was good, but the price of the drinks certainly made up for it. It was $54 for 4 drinks, yes 2 of them were the Swedish cider – Rekorderlig but it was still a lot.  I guess that is Perth prices for you.  The DJ at The Avenue was very friendly and played the best chart and R&B songs. It was a small club and there were not many people there for a Friday night.  they seem to go into the city on Fridays and Saturdays are apparently the big night at The Avenue.  I had a good time out and left when the club closed at 3:00am.  A cab back to Mosman Park was $20 which wasn’t too bad.

I will be going out clubbing again, but I think will choose Saturday for the suburbs and Friday night for going out in the city.
