I love going out for brunch. I went to many places in Sydney and since spending time in Barcelona, I wanted to try some of the ones in the city.
Brunch and Cake
This restaurant is one of the most popular brunch spots in Barcelona. I had to wait 45 minutes when I came here at 1pm but it was worth it.
For starters I had brioche with strawberries, cream and a potato side salad. Brunch and cake also serve a range of smoothies and juices as well as the normal coffee selection.
Brunch has an American decor with a hint of Europe. It is modern, with tables inside and a small bench on the terrace. It has a warm and friendly atmosphere and despite it being busy, the staff did not push us to leave as soon as we had finished our brunch.

My friend had the salmon benedict eggs which came with a delicious side salad. The service was relatively quick once we had waited for our table.

The staff are friendly and the food is very reasonably priced. The eggs benedict with salmon on waffle is 11.90 Euros. The eggs benedict with turkey on waffle is 9.00 Euros. Brunch and Cake also serves Super foods and salads from 7.90 Euros.

Milk
This brunch restaurant was set up in 2015 by an Irish couple and has become very popular. It is now one of the most well known cocktail places in Barcelona. They are open every day 9:00am to 2:00am and brunch is served from 9:00 – 4:30am.
The venue is on the small side so if you don’t want a long wait, either go to Milk early in the morning or after the brunch rush which is around 2:30pm. I had the benedict eggs, photo below:

Marmalade
Marmalade is the younger sister of Milk and is a more spacious location. Situated in La Raval with an outside terrace, this is one of my favorite brunch spots.
Marmalade is one of the biggest restaurants I have been for brunch. Unlike some of the other smaller venues, you are able to book and I have reserved a table for up to 10 people. Once brunch is over, Marmalade turns into a bar/club.

Nearest metro is Sant Antoni or Liceu
Benedict
Benedict is on the same street as Milk and offers a range of brunch options. With a British decor, it had a warm and friendly atmosphere. The staff were also very attentive and did not keep us waiting long to tuck into our brunch.
I had the benedict eggs which came on English muffins. They were good, but I preferred the chocolate cake which I had for dessert ! Maybe because I have such a sweet tooth.

Granja Petitbo
This is one cafe I used to visit a lot when I was working as a freelancer. Brunch is on Saturdays and Sundays and you cannot book, so arrive early to avoid waiting in line. I really like their scrambled egg with bacon on toast. For just a couple of euros extra, you have avocado. This restaurant has a relaxed feel with couches available for those who prefer not to sit at the table.
Address: Passeig Sant Joan 82, 08009 Barcelona, Spain
Nearest metro is Tetuan or Girona
Passatge Tainos
I wanted to go to Federal Cafe but there was a long line. Therefore we went next door to Passatge Tainos and were pleasantly surprised. The restaurant was very spacious and the staff were friendly.
Address: Carrer del Parlament, 35, 08015 Barcelona, Spain
Nearest metro is Sant Antoni or Poble Sec
Cup and Cake
This is a delicious bakery selling some of the best cup cakes in Barcelona. Cup and Cake is very popular and gets busy quickly on the weekends. Arrive early or later in the afternoons to avoid the queues. I went here on Valentine’s Day and they served a delicious Valentine’s cake.
Address: C/Enric Granados, 145 Barcelona, Spain
Nearest metro: Diagonal
